Saturday April 2009 ~ Anusha & Sudip's Wedding
"Hi Tony, Sudip and I are in Costa Rica having a blast...but we wanted to say a quick hello and thank you for being so professional and discrete and rolling with the punches with all the chaos that ensued :) We had a wonderful time and we hope you did too. Take care! Thanks so much, Tony! You are the best. :)"
As it is often a custom in India, the day before the wedding ceremony, the couple's families and friends welcomed them with a night of music and dancing, and of course, great food.
Early the next morning, Anusha began getting dressed in her lovely outfit with the help of her mother and aunt.
With everyone gathered in the ceremony room awaiting the start, beautiful Anusha is accompanied by her brother, which is an Indian tradition, to present her to the groom and his family. During the preparation, I remembered Anusha feeling a bit anxious, getting all the little details where they should be. But as the moment came when she's ready to walk with her brother, there was a feeling of calm as everything fell in place.
Here, our couple was instructed to walk several rounds around the fire. The meaning of this step is beautiful and simple: there will be obstacles in life and our couple will be strong and will overcome.
The final gesture is when Sudip "announced" his marriage to the world and took Anusha as his wife.
As it is with all Indian weddings, there were so many beautiful traditions that I saw throughout the entire event, and getting the chance to photograph such a memorable wedding was definitely an honor.
